About this speaker

Julie Wilson is the founder and Executive Director of Common Roots, a community land trust focused on creating permanently affordable homes for lower-income residents in Meadville, Pennsylvania. A 2023 Kathy A. Possinger Housing Policy Fellow with the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, she produced Equity for Renters, a documentary exploring how cooperative housing models address economic inequality. Wilson has also worked with The Democracy Collaborative to advance rural community wealth-building strategies and is co-author of Community Wealth Building in Meadville: A Strategic Assessment. Before founding Common Roots, she was an associate professor of Community and Justice Studies at Allegheny College. She is the author of Neoliberalism.
