About this Talk
Cities across the U.S. are facing an escalating housing crisis marked by rising rents, limited supply, and growing affordability gaps. Though historically known for stable housing costs, Pittsburgh now has one of the lowest housing supply rates in the country — forcing the region to confront the dual challenge of accommodating growth while preventing displacement.
This panel will examine how national housing pressures are playing out locally, with a focus on zoning policy, housing production, and strategies to equitably support revitalization. Panelists representing a range of sectors will explore how Pittsburgh’s regulatory landscape compares to peer cities and how policy decisions shape both affordable and market-rate housing outcomes. GBBN Architects will share a local multi-family case study to illustrate how inclusionary zoning could affect future projects and neighborhood development.
Grounded in research, data, and community insight, this session offers a timely, cross-sector conversation on translating policy into practice — and building a more inclusive and resilient housing system in Pittsburgh and beyond.
